Fluidra has been selected to deliver two Olympic-standard pools at Taranto's new Aquatic Stadium, confirming its role as a key player in major international sporting events.
A sports and sustainability-driven project for the region
From 21 August to 3 September 2026, Taranto will host the 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games, an IOC-recognised multi-sport event inspired by the Olympic values. Fluidra has been chosen to design and install two competition pools -- one indoor and one outdoor -- at the city's new Aquatic Stadium.
Both pools will meet international standards for swimming and water polo and will be at the heart of Taranto's new sports complex:
- An indoor pool measuring 50 x 25 m (depth: 2-3 m), with seating for 980 spectators
- An outdoor pool measuring 51.5 x 21 m (depth: 2 m), with seating for 1,000 spectators
Beyond the Mediterranean Games, the venue will serve the community year-round, hosting sports, educational, and public activities.
"We are proud to contribute to this ambitious project that combines sport, innovation and a positive impact on the region. Taking part in building the facilities for the Mediterranean Games allows us not only to deploy our technical expertise, but also to uphold sporting values such as cooperation, discipline and perseverance, and to promote amenities that will continue to benefit the community", said Chiara Tonghini, Marketing Manager at Fluidra Commerciale Italia.

The pools will be built using Fluidra's Skypool system, based on prefabricated steel panels mounted on a concrete slab and finished with PVC-P membrane and ceramic tiles. This approach enables fast installation while ensuring durability, quality and flexibility.
The indoor pool will feature a state-of-the-art movable floor, allowing the pool to be sectioned for various uses -- ideal for balancing competition, training, classes and public use.
Fluidra will also provide professional-grade equipment:
- starting blocks (AstralPool), World Aquatics-compliant and manually adjustable
- lane lines designed to reduce wave turbulence by up to 80%, thanks to an innovative turbine system

The Aquatic Stadium is being built by Ferraro SpA, based on a design by Sportium, with technical contributions from the Progetto CMR International group. The project is founded on three pillars: environmental sustainability, landscape integration, and top-level sporting functionality.
Fluidra will support these goals by using eco-friendly materials and technologies, fully aligned with CAM 2022 regulations and the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
With this project, Fluidra continues its strong track record in global sports, following its involvement in the 2022 European Swimming Championships in Rome, Belgrade 2024, and the 2019 Pan American Games.
