Alex Kemsley, Managing Director of Waterstream, has been awarded an ISPE Fellowship, the highest distinction granted by the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers (ISPE). This honour recognises his long-standing contribution to both the UK swimming pool industry and to the Institute during a period of significant transformation.

A Fellowship recognising wet leisure industry service and educational engagement

Founded in 1978, ISPE is the leading professional body for the swimming pool and wet leisure sector in the UK. The Institute supports industry professionals through specialist training, recognised qualifications and continuous professional development resources, playing a central role in raising standards across the sector.

Alex Kemsley has served as a director of ISPE since October 2022. In this role, he has played an active part in the organisation's rebrand and digital development, contributing to the overhaul of printed materials, the launch of a new website and the implementation of a new management system designed to better support the Institute's growing membership.

With more than 20 years' experience in the swimming pool and spa sector, Alex is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading experts in swimming pool design, installation and innovation. His professional background and strategic input have supported ISPE during a period marked by both organisational change and renewed ambition.

"I am incredibly proud to have been made a Fellow of ISPE and for the recognition from my peers in this industry," commented Alex Kemsley. ""I am looking forward to raising wider awareness of ISPE and of all of the great work it does for professionals in the industry and for young people embarking on their careers in this sector."

Education remains a key area of focus for Alex, who has expressed his commitment to evolving ISPE's training programmes. "One of my missions is to evolve the education programme. As a dyslexic entrepreneur, I understand the importance of addressing different learning styles and want to make ISPE's education programme more inclusive for all types of learning," he added.

ISPE President Bob Judd, FISPE, highlighted the significance of the award: "In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Institute, during a period of transition, Alex was voted by the council to become a fellow of the ISPE. During this period, not only did we see personnel changes, but a rebranding of all our printed material has also been undertaken, a new website, plus the implementation of a new management system, which will enable the ISPE to support its growing membership."

ISPE General Manager Luke Griffiths also underlined Alex Kemsley's ongoing involvement: "I would like to express my sincere thanks to Alex for his continued support since I stepped into the role of General Manager. His expertise has been invaluable in delivering the tools needed for ISPE's rebrand and in advancing the redevelopment and hosting of our website. Alex's contributions are far from over, and I look forward to working closely with him as the Institute continues to evolve and grow."

Through this Fellowship, ISPE recognises Alex Kemsley's sustained commitment to the profession and his active role in supporting the Institute's development at a pivotal moment for the UK wet leisure industry.
