In April, Eurospapoolnews - official media partner of the 2021 aquanale - started running a series of articles on the success story of the international trade fair. Today, we will be looking back at the highlights of the aquanale held in 2011.
The 2011 aquanale, a reflection of the swimming pool and spa sector
Trade fairs always reflect the respective sector and so invariably present the latest trends to their visitors. Mainly, this is achieved by showcasing new exhibitors or special event areas and often by including a specialist programme of expert presentations. The 2011 aquanale is a good example of how this was accomplished for the swimming pool and spa sector. In the year in question, there was a growing demand for swimming ponds and natural pools, both in the private domain and for public swimming pools and water parks.

Themed special event area
The 2011 aquanale embraced this trend with a themed special event area featuring a natural garden and water landscape that visitors could explore. This gave swimming pond and natural pool suppliers and experts the opportunity to present themselves in the immediate vicinity of this special event area. In particular, system suppliers, manufacturers of accessories such as filtration systems, pumps, pond liners, suppliers of wood, stone, seating, lounge furniture and plants as well as planning agencies, landscape gardeners and associations such as the German Association for Natural Bathing Waters (www.dgfnb.de) were available to provide interested visitors with advice at their exhibition stands around the special event area.
The subject was also woven throughout the programme of specialist events. Visitors to the trade fair could attend expert presentations to find out about the special characteristics of swimming ponds and natural pools or which factors to consider when planning, building, designing and maintaining natural-style swimming facilities.
The president of the Italian association Assopiscine, Dott. Francesco Capoccia (centre), Ute Wanschura and Dieter C. Rangol (bsw branch office) were very pleased with the activities organised for and with the guest country Italy at the 2011 aquanale
Although natural-style bathing waters were the main focus, exhibitors in the classic swimming pool category still dominated the private and public segments of the dual trade fair formed by the combined aquanale - International Trade Fair for Sauna.Pool.Ambience and the FSB - International Trade Fair for Public Space, Sports and Leisure Facilities. The number of companies exhibiting at the 2011 trade fair was 10 percent higher than the previous event, with 299 vendors from 27 countries represented. Amongst exhibitors and visitors alike, 33 percent of attendees came from abroad. The extra visitors mainly came from Eastern Europe as well as from Switzerland, the Benelux states and Scandinavia.
In 2011, the aquanale and FSB trade fair duo welcomed around 24,000 visitors from 27 countries
Italy, guest country of the 2011 aquanale
In 2011, Italy was the guest country of the aquanale. This certainly played a significant role in the increased number of visitors from this country. Representatives of Koelnmesse in Italy collaborated with the German Association for Swimming Pools and Wellness (bsw) and the Italian swimming pool association Assopiscine to organise group travel packages to Cologne. These were supplemented by tours of the trade fair presented in Italian.
Dott. Francesco Capoccia, president of the Italian association Assopiscine ) and then president of the European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations (EUSA), delivered a presentation on the Italian swimming pool market. He was joined by several board colleagues and Federico Maestrami, publisher of the Italian trade magazine Piscine Oggi, in presenting this popular colloquium. The Piscine Oggi Awards for exceptional swimming pool and spa facilities were presented at the subsequent reception.
Once again, the Aquanight trade fair party was a very special event in the programme of the 2011 aquanale
The next aquanale will be held from the 26th to the 29th of October 2021
It will be the 10th aquanale trade fair. So the globally acclaimed trade fair of the swimming pool and wellness industry will be celebrating a special jubilee.
The international trade fair for Sauna.Pool.Ambience will be held in halls 7 and 8 of the Koelnmesse in October 2021. The themes will be private swimming pools, public swimming pool construction, swimming pool technology, public and private saunas and spas and green living. The 2021 aquanale plans to build upon the outstanding success of the trade fair held in November 2019: the international influence of the 2019 event was greater than ever and the quality of both supply and demand was unprecedented. Almost 28,000 visitors from 128 countries attended the fair to inspect the range of services provided by 281 exhibiting companies from 31 countries.
