As the pool industry continues to focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, the materials used to manufacture pool covers are evolving as well.
A new generation of materials for more efficient pool covers
Plastipack, the developer of the patented GeoBubbleTM technology, has recently introduced Gen2, the next generation of advanced pool cover materials. Developed using graphene-enhanced polymer technology, Gen2 materials are engineered to maintain the durability and performance associated with GeoBubbleTM while utilising 20% less material thickness. This advancement allows manufacturers to benefit from a lighter, more efficient material without compromising the longevity and reliability expected from high-quality pool covers.

Sol+GuardTM Gen2 is the first in this new line of next-generation pool covers. An evolution of the best-selling Sol+GuardTM transparent cover material, it uses 20% less polymer to create a lighter, thinner material that is easier to fabricate and transport, while still delivering its class-leading solar heating performance.
This makes this new pool cover not only a smarter choice for pool performance, but also a more responsible choice for the planet.
However, Sol+GuardTM Gen2 represents just the beginning. In the coming months, Plastipack will continue the rollout of this next generation of GeoBubbleTM materials, with the introduction of EnergyGuardTM Gen2, followed by RaeGuardTM Gen2 and CoolGuardTM Gen2, bringing the benefits of the technology across the wider GeoBubble Guard range.
The full Gen2 Guard range will be available before the 2027 pool season.
