Professionals from across the wet leisure sector gathered at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire on 22 October for the British Pool & Hot Tub Conference 2026. Organised for SPATA and BISHTA members, the event combined industry updates, expert presentations and networking, with a strong focus this year on artificial intelligence, digital technologies and cyber resilience.

AI, cybersecurity and business resilience at the heart of the 2026 programme

Hosted at Laverstoke Mill, the conference brought together members of SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association) and BISHTA (British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association) for a day of discussion on the challenges and opportunities currently shaping the pool, spa and hot tub sector.

The event was hosted by Chris Hayes, former Managing Director of the British Swimming Pool Federation (BSPF), who also introduced Teresa Beazley as the new Managing Director of the BSPF.

A connected industry facing new digital challenges

Under the theme The Connected Industry: Navigating AI Technology and Cyber Resilience, the conference examined the growing impact of digital technologies on wet leisure businesses.

Expert-led sessions covered artificial intelligence, digital marketing and cybersecurity, alongside updates on employment legislation. The programme aimed to provide businesses with practical information on how to adopt new technologies while managing the risks associated with an increasingly connected working environment.

Members also received updates from SPATA, BISHTA and BSPF, including annual reviews, AGMs and information on training, partnerships, member services and other forms of support available through the organisations.

Member dialogue and networking

The conference also provided opportunities for members to exchange experiences and discuss current business issues during networking sessions throughout the day.

A guided tour of the Bombay Sapphire Distillery offered another setting for informal discussions between delegates.

The event concluded with an open member forum, giving participants the opportunity to raise questions and share their views on the future direction of the pool, spa and hot tub industry.

For SPATA and BISHTA, the conference highlighted the importance of collaboration as companies respond to technological change, cybersecurity risks, regulatory developments and evolving business needs.

The 2026 British Pool & Hot Tub Conference was supported by sponsors Recotherm Limited and Brown & Brown Insurance. SPATA and BISHTA have already indicated that preparations are under way for the next edition following feedback from this year's attendees.
