The swimming pool and sauna industry is currently in transition. This means that everyone is looking forward more than ever to interbad from 25 to 28 October 2022. When the International Trade Fair for Swimming Pools, Saunas and Spas is held in a few weeks time, the main focal point will be the trend towards greater digitalisation, energy efficiency and climate protection in the industry - but also how to deal with the uncertain energy situation in the coming winter season.

Digitalisation, energy efficiency and climate protection, main focal points of interbad from 25 to 28 October 2022 in Stuttgart

For the first time since the start of the corona pandemic, the coherent concept comprising a trade fair, a Congress and a diverse accompanying programme will be staged again with personal interaction.

"interbad will certainly be extremely relevant to the industry this year. The industry will obtain information here for possible investments, will be able to network and experience both innovations and expert discussions on current challenges in a live setting," said Claudia Döttinger, Vice President of Messe Stuttgart. Döttinger added: "The most urgent topic is the current energy crisis. interbad can provide valuable impetus for these current challenges. That also applies to climate protection." Industry representatives from all over the world will again discuss challenges and potential solutions at this year's interbad: "The trade fair package is very diverse and extremely impressive," said Joachim Sauter, Division Director Trade Fairs & Events at Messe Stuttgart, in regard to the around 300 international exhibitors.

Two Congresses, exciting (accompanying) programme

The Congress of the German Association for the Recreational and Medicinal Bath Industry (DGfdB) will be held concurrently with interbad. Different modules will offer concentrated expertise and practical know-how for municipal swimming pools, privately run pools, hotels and spas, as well as for companies serving the private market. "In technical talks, workshops and seminars we will examine, for example, general political conditions for the bath industry," said Christian Mankel, Managing Director of the German Association for the Recreational and Medicinal Bath Industry (DGfdB). "These are challenging times in the middle of the corona pandemic, a shortage of personnel and the climate and energy supply crisis. With the aid of the DGfdB Guideline 'Swimming pools in the energy crisis' and the phased plan of the German Swimming Pool Alliance, swimming pools were often internal pioneers in municipalities in making their fair contribution to the necessary reduction in overall energy consumption. We have made such a commitment with self-assurance to the government and the Federal Network Agency".

The International Sauna Congress (ISC) will also be held for the first time concurrently with interbad from 25 to 27 October 2022. According to Martin Niederstein, Managing Director of the German Sauna Association, the objectives of the Congress are the worldwide promotion and further development of sauna use: "We want to shape and influence the industry. For this purpose, we are creating a forum for the global sauna community at interbad in Stuttgart. The International Sauna Congress will be staged for the first time as a hybrid event in order to facilitate the barrier-free transfer of interdisciplinary know-how and the exchange of the latest findings."

interbad will also feature an extensive accompanying programme: in the "Innovation Area" exhibitors will present their latest ideas, brand new prototypes and product launches, and will participate in the vote by trade visitors for the interbad Innovation Award 2022.

Anyone interested in sustainability and resource conservation will obtain with the aid of the new interbad sustainable logo information in the exhibitor directory and corresponding solutions on the exhibition stands. Handwerk International Baden-Württemberg and the Enterprise Europe Network are also jointly organising with international partners a matchmaking platform which will contain 20-minute talks about products and services.

The special show entitled "Theming and story telling in leisure pools and thermal baths" of the European Waterpark Association will present current trends and implementation opportunities. The "Finnish Sauna Experience" will provide visitors with insights into an authentic Finnish sauna experience. This special area will focus on topics such as the health-promoting effect of saunas, nature, the sauna experience and saunas as a global wellness trend. "It is marvellous to be involved in the planning and construction of this unique Finnish sauna area," said Carita Harju, Executive Director of Sauna from Finland. "We hope that visitors will experience a special relaxation moment, just like the Finns, when they explore this area at interbad."

One ticket -- two trade fairs

With a ticket for this year's interbad visitors will actually be able on 25 October 2022 to experience a second trade fair concurrently, i.e. südback, Trade Fair for the Bakery and Confectionery Trades. Products and solutions in the food area, snack ideas for visitors' own restaurants or the diversity of ice cream production in the Gelatissimo Grand Prix can be discovered at südback.
