With increases of 11% in exhibiting brands, 17% in exhibition space and 9% in the number of visitors – almost half of whom were foreign – compared to 2015, this afternoon Piscina & Wellness Barcelona brings to a close an event defined by the recovery of the Spanish swimming pool market, which has consolidated itself at the forefront of the international sector.

Piscina & Wellness 2017

The success of the show reflects the forecasts which predicted that 2017 would be a good year for Spanish companies in the swimming pool sector, which expect to turn over around 9% more than last year and achieve revenues close to 1,140 million euros.

There is a more than positive impression at the closure of Piscina & Wellness Barcelona which, organised by Fira de Barcelona in collaboration with ASOFAP, has shown over the last four days the latest products, services and trends in swimming pools, spas, wellness centres and aquatic leisure facilities from 368 exhibitors, 58% of them international, and 499 represented brands. In consonance with this positive market trend, the show attracted more than 13,300 visitors, 9% more than in 2015, and underlined its position as an essential event on the international calendar for the sector. In this respect, 48% of the accredited trade professionals came from abroad, from around 100 different countries.

Piscina&Wellness 2017Indeed, the highly international nature of the offering at Piscina & Wellness Barcelona is one of the main hallmarks of the show and one of its biggest attractions for both Spanish and international visitors, who are keen to keep up-to-date with the latest innovations and trends in the sector and make contact with manufacturers and distributors from all over the world.

One of the unmissable features at the show in this respect was the Wellness Spa Experience, a large wellness centre built in Hall 1 with a heated swimming pool, saunas, Jacuzzis, showers, a fitness area and treatment cubicles. This was the venue for beauty treatments and aquatic therapies as well as the conferences on the wellness business, which proved extremely popular. Piscina & Wellness also launched the Demo Pool, a swimming pool in which to see products in action, along with water polo and aquatic fitness sessions.

The show’s director, Ángel Celorrio, highlighted ‘the added value and differentiating factor that these experiential spaces represent for attracting professionals from sectors such as tourism, health, sport and leisure, whose businesses can use the solutions presented by the manufacturers and distributors of swimming pool and wellness products.’

Other activities

The show also hosted the first Piscina & Wellness Latin America-Europe business meeting at which architects, designers, developers, tourist infrastructure investors and hotel operators, mainly from Mexico – this year’s guest country – and other Caribbean states mingled with European companies in the sector. This forum facilitated the exchange of knowledge, experience and business contacts from a region with a high concentration of major investments in the luxury tourism segment which feature huge aquatic facilities and wellness centres, amongst other installations.
