PTx colorsUntil now, interior surfaces for pools, spas and other water features have been limited to colors designed for today’s pool design trends – gray, blue, aquamarine, black and tan among a few others. This short list has hampered designers and builders of high-end installations as they strive to create vessels that harmonize with surrounding structures and landscapes.

Thanks to the collaboration between Pebble Technology International and Artisticolors, they will now be able to use a brand-new surface. It’s called PTx-Colors, an innovative finish material with a smooth texture designed for both maximum durability and virtually unlimited chromatic freedom.

The basic concept is to enable designers, builders and their clients to choose from a spectrum of colors the way an interior designer would select paint colors from a fan deck. Design professionals can now offer homeowners multiple hues with almost infinite subtle variations.

Designers and builders value the ability to truly create unique outdoor spaces,” says Bob Haning, executive vice president, for Pebble Technology International. “From pools and spas to outdoor kitchens and tile, everything is about customization. While we see this collaboration as a clear benefit for designers, this process allows builders to be on the cutting edge of design and gives them a means to differentiate themselves through unique and customized options.”

The process involves selecting from color samples, which are used to create specific custom blends of pigment using PTx, a proprietary finish developed by the company to handle a wide variety of color.  As a result, the interior surfaces of custom water vessels can be rendered using the power and flexibility of the color wheel in a material that is announced to last years longer than regular plaster.

Under the PTx-Colors program, designers and homeowners would have to contact an authorized PTx-Colors Builder to begin the design process. Samples will be prepared. If the color is approved, the matched finish will be installed by one of the company’s Licensed Pebble Tec® Professionals.

With this new product the interior finish industry is transformed from a state of quite limited choices to a universe of virtually limitless creative possibilities.

This innovation has been introduced at the International Pool, Spa and Patio Expo in the US company’s Booth. Builders are invited to learn more about the process and how to become a PTx Authorized Builder.
