AstralPool presents HYDROSPIN, a hydrocyclonic pre-filter device

AstralPool launches HYDROSPIN, a hydrocyclonic pre-filter device which can be installed in filtration systems in both new and existing swimming pools. Its function is to separate sand and other particles suspended in the water. This makes it ideal as a step before the filtration system in swimming pool installations.

This device can treat volumes of up to 30m³/h at a maximum working pressure of 2.5 bar. It is installed between the pump and the filter, separating solids of up to 40 micras thanks to its 24 hydrocyclones. The result is a reduction in the frequency of washing of the filtration system and a 50% reduction in water consumption during the filtering process. It therefore enables the user to protect pumpsets and filtration equipment against the wear and tear caused by solid particles and dirt in the water.

It is very easy to install: all you have to do is fit it between the pump outlet and the filter. The water enters the body tangentially and travels through the hydrocyclones, which generate a strong centrifugal effect. The centrifugal force forces the dirt towards the system pre-filter’s conical wall, where it takes a downward spiral trajectory. The solid particles are thus dragged to the lower part of the device, where they are collected in a solid collection tank divided into three areas: decantation, clarification and thickening. Sediments and particles of up to 0.04 mm are retained in the collection tank, from where they are easily removed by opening the draining valve.

Thanks to its special design, it operates with a minimum and constant loss of charge. Thanks to this, it can be installed without changing the existing pump and removes the possibility of plugging. It can be installed on the floor, using the fittings provided, or on the wall using DN300 flanges. It uses standard 63-mm diameter connections for the water inlet and outlet and 32 mm-diameter ones for draining out dirt.

This device requires almost no maintenance. Thanks to its transparent collection tank, sediments can be monitored visually and it can be easily cleaned by simply opening the purge valve. The pre-filter can be cleaned using only 5 litres of water and without having to stop the pump. Maintenance is also facilitated by its compact design, since it has no moving parts or components requiring periodic replacement.
