US company A2Z Ozone Inc. is highlighting the effectiveness of ozone treatment as ‘the only true way to have a clean pool or spa in a low chemical environment’. The Aquatic2 Spa Ozone Generator is A2Z’s latest innovation for spas.

Some customers use A2Z Ozone’s ozone generators without any chemical additives at all, but the company recommends using a small amount of sodium bromide at 1–2ppm to reduce algae growth on the walls of the pool.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also specifies the need for a residual disinfectant (during the time that ozone is not concentrated in the water). Ozone in water has a half-life of 30 minutes.

A2Z Ozone Head Technician Nick Schlenk says: “Ozone generators aren’t well known, but are gaining popularity as people become more aware that they can be used for a broad range of applications. For a pool and spa application, the choice to use an ozone generator is a no-brainer. The ozone molecules in the water will clean and sanitize a pool or spa. Maintenance becomes far less involved, and you have crystal clear water to jump in!”
