Barcelona-based company Sugar Valley is launching a new combined hydrolysis/salt electrolysis water treatment system, which is being pitched as a high-quality alternative to the salt water chlorinator.

 Oxilife

Called Oxilife, the product generates OH (hydroxide), ozone, oxygen and hydrogen peroxide from water and electricity.

Sugar Valley says that the principle of disinfection is based on separating the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in the water molecule (H2O) to generate secondary active agents said to have a stronger disinfection potential than chlorine.

Additionally, Oxilife uses only a small amount of salt in the pool (1–1.5g of salt per litre of water) to produce a residual chlorine level via salt electrolysis. According to Sugar Valley, Oxilife will achieve the same result as a salt chlorinator with only 30% of the salt requirement.

The company says that the advantages over traditional salt electrolysis are fewer problems relating to the oxidation of metallic parts, less chlorine is produced, and a healthier environment is provided for the pool user

Sugar Valley has a track record of innovation in pool water treatment since its foundation 20 years ago.
